October Tune-up:
In today’s release we smash a number of pesky bugs, add camera roll access, new account tools, and other backend improvements:
🐜 Bug Fixes: Fixed an issue with Apple Health sync where certain types of meal logs would register on the incorrect day, an issue with duplicate entries, and a latency issue when multiple recent meals are logged at once.
📷 Camera Roll: When logging a meal with photos, you can now use previously taken photos or screenshots from the camera roll. Super handy when ordering from online menus!
👤 Account Tools: We’re continuing to expand access to account information within the app, including the ability to delete account data.
An important note:
With the new iOS 18 release, voice dictation can intermittently erase recorded speech when silence is recorded. A fix appears to be coming in iOS 18.1 and we are also working on a patch. To avoid this issue, pause the dictation when not speaking.
This release also includes backend improvements that help us track user subscriptions and retention.
Look out for our next few releases!
Extended meal history will let you go further back in time to review your history
Move meals to another day
Daily habit reminder controls

We're dropping a quick "half-update" for you based on some user feedback that we wanted to respond to quickly.
With our latest update, you now have the option to turn the reactions to your meals on or off. We get it! Sometimes we just want the deets and not the commentary.
Also, watch out in the future for the option to customize the voice of your Coach, from gentle and supportive to hardcore Pulp Fiction mode. Hey, we're all motivated a little differently!

Update: Accuracy to the Max
Hey hey Calorik crew,
Not gonna beat around the biscuits here—we’ve just pushed an awesome new update with some crazy flexible power features.
The first and biggest:
Edit with AI
Nutshell—logging a meal is as simple as showing or telling Calorik what you ate, and now refining that output is too. Here’s six ways you can use it.
Ate something, logged it, then ate another one?
Edit with AI: “Hey I actually ate two of these”Ate a meal, but forgot to log dessert?
Edit with AI: “Had dessert later, it was a small Tiramisu”Meal snapped a photo, but Calorik couldn’t see something important?
Edit with AI: “This sandwich actually had three slices of cheese on it”Meal snapped a photo, but Calorik misidentified something?
Edit with AI: “That burger was actually a vegan Impossible patty”Logged something and want to dial in the accuracy?
Edit with AI: “Here’s the nutrition label for that juice”Want to dial in the accuracy even more?
Edit with AI: “I’m looking at the menu and that burrito has 900 total calories, can you recalculate the data for that one?”
Of course, you can still Edit Manually if you prefer or just need to quickly change a portion size.
We also just released a flurry of other updates, including:
Apple Health Nutrition Export
You can now sync all your logs out to Apple Health and share that nutrition data with any other app. Power users rejoice!
Duplicate Meals
Got something you eat just about every morning? Forget the prompt and just hit duplicate in the meal context menu (three dots). Duplicity! It’s like that 90s movie with Michael Keaton, but with more power smoothies and rice bowls.
Metric Units
When setting goals, you can now use any preferred unit of measure. We see you, Calorik crew around the world!
The Struggle is Real
And if you got this far, you’re ready for a story. We’ve had a lot of these features in the pipeline ready to go for some time, but I'll tell you, the app review process can be tricky with a certain large fruit company!
So you may have noticed a gap in updates over the past six weeks or so—and the blocker basically came down to a rogue thumbnail on the preview page 🙃. All jokes aside, the good folks at Apple have the unenviable task of moderating millions of apps and it can’t be easy. We’re glad they take an active role in keeping the bar high for developers everywhere.
So all is well and the updates will continue to rain down. Next up, favorites and recent meals!

Introducing Meal Snap: Instant Meal Tracking with Just A Photo
Hey Calorik crew!
We’ve just rolled out Meal Snap, a game-changing feature for anyone with the need for speed when it comes to tracking nutrition. Whether it’s a picture of your food, the label of the food, or even just the packaging, Meal Snap does all the heavy lifting with just a photo.
Snap Anything, Track Anything
Meal Snap is both powerful and flexible—you can snap a photo of any combination of the following:
Your Meal: Lunch out with coworkers? Don’t search for that pasta plate, just snap a photo. Meal Snap will do the rest, and you can get back to dishing the office drama.
Multiple Foods: Buffet-style dinner? Take multiple photos of different foods. It’s your personal food paparazzi.
Food Packages: In the kitchen? Just take a picture of the food package. Meal Snap’ll log it instantly by cross-referencing estimated portion size to product title.
Nutrition Labels: Aiming for food-scale level accuracy? Just snap a photo of the nutrition label. Meal Snap will make sure every calorie, gram, and macro is logged perfectly, and you can always pair it with a voice description if you ate more or less than the serving size.
Restaurant Menus: On vacation? Menu in a foreign language? Snap a photo of the menu, tell Calorik what you ordered, and let Meal Snap handle the rest. No more guesswork, just good eats.
Recipes: You’re about to whip up your famous lasagna. Instead of logging each ingredient manually, take a photo of the recipe and tell Calorik how many servings you’ll eat, and Calorik will help you track all the ingredients.
Under The Hood
Now Calorik combines ALL your visual, textual, and voice inputs with public nutrition data to form the most accurate prediction of your meal's nutritional profile.
So in a single prompt, you can actually track dozens of foods at once with food-scale level accuracy. Here’s a peek under the hood:
Photo Analysis: When you snap a picture, our AI assesses the volume, probable ingredients, cooking method, sauces, and any additional sources of information like barcodes or nutrition labels. It’s like having a mini-nutritionist in your pocket.
User Input Integration: The AI also considers any additional data you provide. Did you eat the whole thing? Was there something extra not pictured? By aggregating all this data, Calorik provides a comprehensive nutritional breakdown.
Detailed Nutritional Profile: The AI calculates an estimated nutritional profile for each meal, including calories, macronutrients (proteins, fats, carbohydrates), and even micronutrients when possible.
Editable Entries: Finally, individual items are broken down into specific line items that you can edit and refine later if needed. This ensures you have full control and can make adjustments for perfect accuracy.

Over here at Calorik we’re dead set on creating the fastest, simplest tool imaginable for tracking your nutrition, and today in the app we’ve released a few much-requested features aimed at improving accuracy—without the headache of hunting down individual ingredients.
Edit Mode: The first allows you to edit or delete portion, calorie or macro data in any meal, item, or ingredient AFTER it’s been logged. So maybe Calorik predicted that your powerbar had a bit less protein than it says on the label—if you want it to be 100% accurate, now you can tweak it. Or maybe you told Calorik you had two handfuls of potato chips… and you went back for more later. Just bump up the portion size.
Explicit Prompts aka "Because I Said So Mode": We’ve also refined Calorik’s AI model to prioritize explicit data inputs—so if you tell it “I had a caesar salad for lunch and it was 280 calories”, Calorik will anchor the prediction of all the other macros around that number and your log will reflect that calorie total exactly. You can also dictate multiple data points at the same time.
And keep an eye out, we have some big features coming in the next few weeks!

Hello, Brad here—
Calorik's Private Beta period is nearing an end—and as we prepare to release the app officially to the iOS store, we'd like to throw a HUGE thank you to our beta group of testers who have provided loads of critical feedback. Your thoughts have materially affected the direction and priority of the app.
In the last few weeks you've helped us as we've:
Quashed bugs
Improved the nutrition model
Reworked our authentication system
Added Smart Goals
Laid the groundwork for more advanced conversational AI features
Completed final preparations to release publicly to the iOS App Store
Today we're announcing a feature that will be available with the iOS release and marks Calorik's first foray into tailored nutrition coaching.
Calorik Coach is appearing first as a micro-response to each meal logged—so that every time you take a bite, you're getting instant feedback, guidance, and maybe even a bit of a good-natured jab in the ribs (as needed) to stay on track. Studies tell us that consistent, positive reinforcement, clear information, and even just the knowledge that another voice out there is aware of our choices can be the strongest motivator there is.
We'll continue to hone the tone of the Coach so that it's both useful and novel—because after all, no one needs to be told for the 35th time to eat more grilled chicken and broccoli. Sometimes you just need a coach to laugh along with you and your inexplicable addiction to eating dry Lucky Charms out of the box. Or is that just me?
In coming releases, we'll give you the option to dial in the voice of the Coach that works best for you. Maybe you need Pulp Fiction mode to really motivate you when the artisan chai-flavored cream-filled donut holes are calling, or perhaps you'd rather the gentle cadence of Oprah's wisdom to guide you gently to balanced rice bowl nirvana.
And as we continue to train our model with access to new data sources, we'll continue to release more options for open-ended and two-way interaction with the Coach.
Hope you enjoy and can't wait to hear how the Coach is responding to your meals. Give me a shout at brad@calorik.ai to share.

Losing weight or packing on muscle can definitely be hard. But for most, it isn’t complicated. It’s just math. Want to lose? Find out how much energy your body burns at rest. Eat slightly fewer calories than that each day. Repeat. And adjust as needed for high activity days.
So if it's that simple, why is it so hard? Because we're surrounded by foods that give us quick energy, but don't fill us up. And knowledge is the best way to fight back.
So to help you stay on track and see what a satisfying meal looks like in the numbers, we've just added Smart Goals to Calorik.
Syncing to Apple Health or answer a few questions, and your daily calorie and macro goal sits front and center.
Log each meal in just seconds with Calorik AI and see how it impacts your goals, instantly
By hitting your macro goals each day, you can avoid empty foods and prioritize "high-volume", satisfying meals that fill you up
Stay consistent and log each day, even if takes a few days to get into a new eating rhythm
Simplicity means consistency. You got this!
